Bibimbap was the hipster’s choice of Asian dish, once. But what you should all really be eating right now is ramen. Specifically, Ajisen Ramen.
With over 120 stores in its chain worldwide, you’d have thought someone would’ve wised up and added an Ajisen for the noodle cravers of Adelaide sooner. But hey, at least we’ve got two stores now for you to get your ramen fix – one on Leigh Street, and a newly opened branch in Regent Arcade. Just look for the sign that has the cute anime girl with Chun Li hair winking, you can’t miss it!
Walking into Leigh Street’s Ajisen and finding an unoccupied table is not difficult, the staff are super friendly, and the prices are reasonable for any passer-by looking for a cheap eat off the Hindley strip. The ramen soups, the reason why you came here in the first place, range from $10 to $14 each. The Volcano Ramen, chasyu and vegetables in spicy sauce, is particularly good at $11, whereas the Nasu Dengaku, grilled eggplant with miso sauce, is a tasty choice for vegos at $6.50.
Even their crockery has the winking girl on it. You’ll probably walk out post-meal bearing the same happy expression.
