Most professional (and/or failed) artists like to rattle on about how their art school education was useless. I beg to differ. I now know how to mindlessly drop phrases like ‘architectonic forms’, or ‘urban dystopia, or ‘mnemonic systems’ into casual conversation.
Even if you’re not into talking like a oxymoronic art magazine, chances if you want to do anything creative you are going to need to learn something from a ‘sage’ at some point. The kids at Paperhorse Studios are pretty much the Mr. Miyagi’s of art. Over the next four months, Lisa King and her brood of talented illustrator/designer/artists are going to offer workshops at Paperhorse in everything from hobnobbing in the ‘scene’ to crafting a four-layer portrait.
Make sure you book ahead, some classes are limited in numbers, and just a few carry a fee to cover artist materials. First one starts this week, jump on it, grasshopper.
