‘True Adventures’ featuring Ghostpatrol
published on 16th March, 2010

I remember the first time I saw a Ghostpatrol paste-up. I was a glossy eyed 17 year old, on my first trip to the big smoke of Melbourne without Ma and Pa. As I skipped merrily down Hosier Lane I spotted a sweet papergirl riding a big grey bear along the brick wall. The next day I was back with spray adhesive and some woefully inadequate paste-ups of my own.

I also remember the first time I went to Hugo Michell Gallery. I was trying pretty hard to flirt with my companion, but I did notice a few things. First off, it is a real nice space. Secondly, Hugo Michell is not just some rich guy looking to plaster his name all over a letterhead in nice fonts. Michell has razor sharp pop sensibilities and a nose for Good Art. Amongst the artists he represents are some favourites of mine – Nana Ohnesorge and Paul Sloan for example. And on a side note, if you should happen to go on a date to Hugo Michell, it’s just around the corner from Vari’s – home of the finest biscuit collection in Adelaide.

Enough reminiscing. My point is: the Ghostpatrol show is opening this Thursday night at Hugo Michell Gallery.
