The Thousands

You may have seen the eye-catching posters around town for Reverie and thought to yourself, “That looks nice.” Reverie is a Fringe exhibition featuring a series of delicate portrait paintings by emerging artists, Jennifer Allnutt and Piyarat Mukura. The work is nice, and oh so pretty, much like the world of fairytales and 1970s sewing patterns. Piyarat’s water-washes are considered and flamboyant, likewise Jennifer’s oils are weird and wonderful, both touching on themes of fragility and sadness. I get the feeling we’ll be seeing more of these two.
