This second issue has been so long coming that we’d almost given up on it. Thankfully Ms Gage didn’t, despite some unforeseen setbacks, so now we have Janus Faces, a lovely green creature designed by Mikie Inglis, with contributions from 22 other amazing brains (including journos, painters, photographers, academics, whip crackers, scientists and theatre makers).
Janus, the god of gates, doorways, beginnings and endings, is usually depicted as having two heads – one facing towards the future, and one towards the past. He’s a bridge, bringing polarised concepts together in a celebration of change.
Reflecting this, inside issue two you’ll find all manor of disciplines, world views, modes of art and perspectives on culture and tradition getting on like old friends. From the genius whimsy of Nick Coyle to an unexpectedly touching review by Christos Tsiolkas, to a simple visual piece called ‘F*ck You Three Times For Free’ (middle fingers aloft, ya’ll), you will find much to be pleasantly surprised by within these pages.
Take your time reading – number three’s probably still a way off.
