Pie Paper is excellent for a number of reasons:
1. It is put together with the humble objective of keeping its creators mentally and creatively fit. They’re interested in brains and how to better use them.
2. Each issue has a different theme, with the hope being that limiting possibilities will activate creativity. So far, it’s totally worked. The BETA issue’s theme is ‘the circle’ and the next is all about repetition. Repetition is the theme. Yes, it’s about repetition.
3. Hofko and Oosterdijk cleverly mix in nice things from all different spheres, from beautiful works of art to scientific sensations and secrets about your neighbours.
**3. They’ve chosen a neat, affordable newspaper format but don’t want to be fenced in, so they also have an extended reading (extended looking actually) multimedia section on their site .
4. It’s from New Zealand.
5. Their ‘About Us’ section is a pie chart!
In the words of Karl, a guy who sits opposite me: "I like it".
