When Value King shut up shop a couple of years ago, this city heaved a collective and all too common sigh. It happened again! Swings and roundabouts we figure. So many great people with great concepts hopping on and then off the merry-go-round of great ideas. Much of the time, they get off the merry-go-round in Melbourne. But a little bit of renewing through emergent urbanism is surely fixing it.

This is why Magazine is exciting. Those ‘Mergsters’ from glossy street press Merge Magazine (RIP) are moving on, post-publisher and reinvigorated for a little bit of indendent DIY, possibly the missing ingredient. Word is Magazine is to be a dynamic space in the walls of the old Value King on Clubhouse Lane, pop-up stores, regular art exhibitions, record fairs, photo studio and just as importantly, a bar. The concept is that the space is for the people to make it what they want it to be. So get involved, get in touch, use it or lose it.
