Push Pin Boutique

Not to be confused with a poetically gifted but perennially unstylish Russian, Push Pin is a vintage lover’s heaven. Specialising in 1940s and ’50s fashion, the little boutique prioritises careful cuts and to-the-millimetre fits.

The ever stylish Clare Matthews has a huge collection of vintage fabrics that she has collected from op-shops and online to create ’50s inspired dresses from old patterns. With fitted tops and flowing skirts based on pin-ups such as Lana Turner and Betty Page (pointy!), the designs are dominated with lace detailing, pleats, furs and floral patterns. Accessories such as popper beads, rhinestone spectacles, gloves and berets (just in time for winter) are also available to accentuate the ‘sweater girl’ look of the era (yes, pointy). Shoes are also an essential part of the Push Pin look whether it be a stiletto pointed shoe such as the original Dior creations, or a strappy sandal.

Push Pin also stocks local designers and is set to bring back the sweater girl in all her glory. Don’t forget your red lippy and curlers.
