When you think of bicycles, some of the first things that come to mind are spandex, road races, and beating cancer. However if you’re not a Lance Armstrong fan you probably think of Parisian men and women leisurely riding 1920s style roadsters in expensive outfits and looking unbearably attractive in the process.
While the chances of replicating such scenes here are slim baring a sudden French croissant shortage that sees an influx of chic Frenchy natives cruising our streets, The Classic Bicycle Shop on Pulteney St makes it possible for us to at least ride 1920s style single and 3-speed bicycles in A.P.C. outfits and, if we so wish, talk with French accents while scolding anyone who calls a sparkling wine from the Barossa a champagne. That, or we could just ride them like normal people, knowing that we’ve got that timeless look on lock and aren’t wearing a funny spandex suit.
