The Thousands

So you play in a little band that you think is pretty good. Sure you’ve got some catchy choruses and your 10 friends who have nothing better to do on a Thursday night seem to like it. The only reason you haven’t been offered that cool record deal or aren’t getting any play on Triple J is cause you live in a town where no one notices you.

Or so the story goes. Chances are your band is crap as 99% of bands are (we are the 99% indeed) but that shouldn’t stop you from dreaming of the bright lights of Melbourne or London (or Berlin if you’re a bit arty).

This idea will be discussed at the Festival of Unpopular Culture’s forum called ‘My Other Band Moved to London’. I will be posing questions to Dave “Captain Aria” Graney and Nicci “I’ll book ya” Reid, both of whom moved to chase the dream, or so I assume.

But don’t just assume, move your ass on down to the forum and ask them questions too. The more you participate the less I have to do. Hell, you might even find a way to get your mediocre music heard by someone other than your mediocre friends.
