Ever watched a Vincent Moon Take Away Show and thought, “Boy, I wish I lived in Paris and could potentially bump into Bon Iver singing acapella by some wheelie bins?” I sure have, and clearly so did the Your Take Sessions crew as they set about tailoring the ever-popular acoustic web-session format to the streets of Adelaide, exchanging the Eiffel Tower for the Santos building and Grizzly Bear for the likes of Steering By Stars, Fire! Santa Rosa, Fire! and more.
With the initial 12-part ‘6 On The St’ web series in the binary-code-can and a Carclew Youth Arts grant in their pockets, the gang have set about knitting the original performances together into a full-length documentary tackling the broader state of Adelaide’s music scene. New interviews with Renew Adelaide brainbox Ianto Ware, Fourwords matriarch Amber Cronin and observers from the community radio and DIY record label sector provide more food for thought, creating a nuanced look into the strengths, challenges and possible (hopefully non-dystopian) future for local music in a city rarely given its dues by interstate audiences and national youth broadcasters alike.
