Cabiria Oyster Bar

Cabiria Oyster Bar is the kind of place you’d want to take a romantic holiday. By holiday, we mean that you’re going to spend a good couple of hours sharing small meals between friends. Their French inspired menu is not really suitable for vegetarians, especially the rennet-free kind. Sorry vegetarians! Their cheese platters do, however include a good range of cheeses which will at least tempt you in for a drink.

The highlights include rabbit pie, escargot and white bean soup. The clincher (and the general premise of their restaurant) is the oysters. Apart from being the perfect dish to seduce your date (or friends) with, Cabiria shuck their oysters fresh, and they’re as tender and tasty as they come. The chef keeps things exciting with fish du jour and rotating highlights daily.

Smaller dishes include pork terrine, duck rilletes, coq au vin, salmon tartare, meats from the charcuterie, and shareable gourmet sandwiches. You can leave that cleanskin at home too because the drinks menu is packed full. Oh and I’m not going to finish this review without mentioning their napkins, which are almost cotton thick and massive – they’ll turn you into Larry. Now go get some of those oysters shucked.
