Pancakes or fritters? Watermelon juice or mango nectar? Such are the questions that plague the average morning. Sadly cafes like “eco venue” Commune do little to resolve these breakfast bugbears. Everything on their menu sounds equally amazing and it’s hard to split avocado salsa and coconut ice cream after the long drive down from Brisbane. Take heed – you should, nay you must, bring a friend to Commune so that you can try multiple things.
Take it as a noun or as a verb, either way Commune means one thing – sharing is caring. The staff here are all buddies, the local customers are all buddies, and they are more than happy to welcome you temporarily into their coastal fold as you share a Jumping Jimmy (banana smoothie with a shot of espresso, yum) made from the same blender and munch on organic olive and thyme toast cut from the same loaf. It’s breezy, sunshiny, Tame Impala is probably playing, kids are enjoying a game of table tennis out the back and sausage dogs are catching some rays out the front. Sea change? Yes please.
