Talk about cult. Super Whatnot, the new bar that’s sprung up where the Laneways Project left off, has an air of, forgive me here, ‘New York cool / getting lost in the winding lane’s of Tokyo and bumping into amazing bar’, but set in the easy-to-find grid of Brisbane’s CBD.

The space itself used to be storage for the beauty school, but as the Beauty School finds ways to minimize space, Super Whatnot (with a capacity of about 60) finds ways of utilizing the space in the best way possible. You’ve got to be quick on the uptake though – their small capacity means that they’re going to fill up quickly, and you might have to switch from beer to spirits on busy nights.

Super Whatnot serve your boutique beers, your classy spirits (so you can feel like Bill Murray at the Park Hyatt), bar nibblies, and wines. They have two seating areas (upstairs and down) and the atmosphere is on par with a Paris underground bar in the 50s, add a little crispness. It’s pretty super.
