The Crosstown Eating House
published on 3rd June, 2009

Brisbane can warmly welcome a new establishment to the ever-evolving strip on Logan Road, Woolloongabba. The Crosstown Eating House is the result of Matt and Benn Christensen and Matthew Howland’s mindset to create an eating/bar experience with no pretences or fluff - just decent, tasty food and drinks.

Formerly a two-story antique centre, the owners have kept the nostalgic brick building true to form with hand-built interior, a rustic bar and retro light fixtures. Perch at the bar or in one of the many nooks that have been purposely created and enjoy a shared meal or drinks with friends.

This is the type of place you’d have a long drawn out dinner and drinks, or a quick bite to eat when you don’t want to cook. You’ll feel like you have been invited over to a friend’s place with the welcoming yet informative, down-to-earth staff. The Crosstown serves old favourites with a savvy modern twist. Food starts from $3 to $28, using the ingenious concept of share plates. Think Meat Balls and Sauce, Lamb Cutlets with Relish ($4 each), Spatchcock and outside stuffing, Mushrooms and Toast. For dessert, how about a round of Mini Ice-cream Cones. Yum.

I could go on about the menu, the well-chosen wine list or the unique dessert options, but trust me on this one. The Crosstown is well worth a visit, not just for the excellent menu but also the rare experience of enjoying a relaxed, warm atmosphere whilst dining. Crossstown – Thank God You’re Here.
