Brisbane Sounds ’09
published on 20th May, 2009

Brisbane, you’re one rock city. Forget Detroit, we’ve got all the ‘tude, swagger and more right here, people of the River City. You can forget Tennessee too; we’ve got bucket loads of drawl to soothe your achy breaky heart.

Anyone who has been to the ‘centre of the universe’, i.e. London will know that Londoners don’t realise, or won’t believe you when you tell them there are places outside of London itself. So, the man behind the BS project, Blair Hughes decided it was high time we took them, and the rest of Europe proof: and so Brisbane Sounds was born – a compilation of music from BNE, Brisbane Sounds 09 is the third of the series. This 22 track anthology – no surprises here folks – resonates just like the roof of The Zoo, the couches of The Troubadour and the crunchy-sticky floors at Ric’s. It’s a beautiful thing really.

OK, so the 22 tracks come from (in order of play): An Horse, I Heart Hiroshima, We All Want To, DZ, Mary Trembles, Smokestack Orchestra, The Blackwater Fever, Black Mustang, Young Liberals, Little Vegas & The Fuzz Parade, Mexico City, New Jack Rubys, Shakedowns, Hits, The Jim Rockfords, Andrew Morris, Texas Tea, Gentle Ben & His Sensitive Side, Ball Park Music, Danger Bunnies, The Mercy Beat and Vegas Kings.

You’ll be filled with so much patriotism it’ll make you want to go on Brisvegas bender. Anyone for a shot of tequila?
