Pilgrim Coffee

When it comes to food and drink, Tasmania is to Australia what Tuscany is to Italy. For some reason, really simple things produced in the region taste so much better than they do back in the Big Smoke and you find your jaw dropping over a single slice of salmon, a humble tomato or a perfect pot of beer.

Pilgrim is a relatively new Hobart cafe but it's so relaxed that you get fooled into thinking it's been around for a while. Perhaps that's due to the expertise of Will the owner who has had his head into serious coffee for quite a few years and sharpened his skills on Melbourne's best espresso machines. He serves out elegant single-origin brews and will tell you the story behind the bean down to the finest detail if you want to know.

In true Tasmanian style the food is simple and just uses great ingredients to get your attention. Somehow they make a breakfast panini that shits all over any ridiculous 'eggs done five ways with three sides', and the muesli and yoghurt in a cup makes you feel healthier with every bite.
