Taco Truck
published on 8th March, 2011

My favourite thing about New York was not the amazing art galleries, cheap clothes or the feeling of constantly being on the set of Sesame Street. No, it was the Mexican food. Crunchy and fresh, tangy and cheap – never had I encountered foodstuff of this ilk! We ate as many tacos as we could, from fast food chains, fancy restaurants, authentic tacquerias and numerous food vans. The tacos in San Francisco had a slightly different vibe, and we also ate the hell out of them. We even stopped at a little truck in Oakland on the way to the airport. Man, they were delicious!

Raph Rashid, he of Beatbox Kitchen (voted ‘number 1 burger in Victoria‘ ) has just rolled out his latest killer project – Taco Truck. Raph’s take on tacos is simple, fresh and distinctive, with an emphasis on local ingredients. Offering an evolving menu of three choices at any one time (meat, fish and veg), all tacos are served in soft corn tortillas piled with salsas and special sauces, crunchy radish and cabbage salad, with freshly fried corn chips, chunky guacamole and Mexican sodas on the side. Keep an eye on the Truck’s movements and make sure you try all the tacos – they’re freakin’ delicious.
