Threefold Foodstore & Eatery

Gordon Gekko said lunch was for wimps, and five years ago the business end of town would have you believe it.

But halfway through a basil poached chicken with roman gnocchi and witlof salad, are you going to tell me there’s no nobility in this? Threefold opened about six weeks ago and is owned and operated by Simone and Lyn who are lovely. It’s in the business end of town and for all the gloss (planter boxes out the front, long window seating, marble serving table, heavy industrial lights, floor to ceiling wine shelves) there is a perfect match of honest to goodness food, service, Espresso Syndicate coffee and home made EVERYTHING.

Threefold’s breakfast menu is wholesome and the bar dishes on Thursday and Friday evenings complement their carefully curated wine list. But get Lyn and Simone at lunchtime and this is when they’re most proud. At midday, their team of staff bring out big bowls of seasonal salads (heirloom tomatoes with basil, rocket and buffolino – ding) and platters of specials to the central marble table.

If you want something easy kid, choose from three sandwiches (pork, beef and spatchcock), toasties (pastrami, sausage and smoked mozzarella), pies or tarts.
