Ever wanted to be rocked to sleep on an ocean of blissful sounds performed by dutiful musicians dedicated to giving you the best night’s sleep you’ve ever experienced? Yeah, us too. Wouldn’t it be awesome if all your friends could be there too? It’d be like the best sleep over party ever. You could get cosy in your PJs, snuggle up in your sleeping bag and have those awesome urgent conversations about the people you liked and your hopes and dreams.
In what is becoming an amazing trend, Next Wave are bringing that beautiful fantasy to life. As part of the Territory Time project there is going to be a big sleep over at Head Quarters, just behind Lupa in Northcote. Lie back and drift off while a live score of soothing tones and blissful melodies gently carries you to sleep.
The sleep over is part of the Territory Time project, a collaboration among five Darwin-based sound and visual artists – each exploring the extreme isolation, weather and different pace of life in the heart of Australia. Don’t expect clichéd images of rust-coloured, sunburnt landscapes though, this is an exploration of hidden side of life in the red centre – simultaneously foreboding and rewarding. So why not head down with your blanket, curl up and be rocked to sleep on a cushion of sound. When else will you get an opportunity like this?
The Daily Wave is our daily Next Wave Festival report, uploading exclusive tips and giveaways of a morning from now until May 28.
