If you saw the Sisters Hayes‘ 2010 show A Good Death, in which they re-enacted the grisly ends of the Catholic Martyred Saints in the crypt at St Mary’s Star of the Sea church in West Melbourne, you’ve probably been loading their website every 30 minutes to find out what they’re doing next. Well, my iPhone hot spot just stopped working but I have good news.
The Melbourne-based siblings – Christina, Esther and Rebecca – recently retraced the journey of their American ancestors from east to west across the land of the free, ending up at the one-room shack in Wibaux, Montana (population 580) where their great grandmother Verona was born 100 years ago. Here is the footage. JK. They didn’t film it, they took photos, which you can see at their exhibition Big Sky Country – opening this Friday at Rae & Bennett Gallery.
