I love balloon animals. The poodles with their poofy tails. The giraffes with their poofy noses. It’s all fun and games until something poofy bursts and all you’re left with is a sad shrivelled mess. But what if there was something great in all that flaccid balloon? There is, and Fraser Anderson has found it. He prefers his balloons popped so he can stretch and sculpt them over wire, thread, and found objects. He also likes using other unorthodox art materials like foil chocolate wrappers and silly string, creating beautiful things out of cheap and weird stuff. Some of those things will be on display tonight as part of the LMFF cultural program and Asuza’s debut bi-annual guest artist exhibition. – REJ
