The Hand Made Music Festival (HMM…) is one of the more interesting events on Melbourne’s bursting-at-the-seams festival calender. Along with talks, workshops and performances it’s a celebration of contemporary experimental instrument building and design – often involving tactile and recycled objects. It’s both hand made and hands on!
This Saturday is the fest’s warehouse party which will include a whole bunch of amazing sound devices – from circuit-bent toys to handcrafted resonators, hacked TVs, pirate transmitters and fruit-controlled synthesizers! HMM curator Rod Cooper along with Dale Chapman will be performing on Cooper’s hand made stainless steel instrument simply known as the ‘the vessel’. Also performing are cleaninglady, Toydeath (who re-appropriate children’s electronic toys while wearing human-sized cartoonish costumes), the Earl of Lunchington, Ceri Hann and Eric Demetriou.
