‘Margaret Seaworthy Gothic’ exhibition opening

This Margaret mug just appeared on my desk, and now Margaret Lawrence Gallery is having a Margaret Seaworthy Gothic exhibition. Just who the eff is this Margaret bird? Oslo Davis isn’t the only one scratching his head. It seems the mug is an anomaly, the gallery name a coincidence, and the exhibition referring to a 1970s typeface created by seminal conceptual artist Laurence Weiner. Curated by the incredible Matthew Shannon, Margaret Seaworthy Gothic assembles a group of artists to explore the dematerialisation of art within a conceptual context. Featured works are a mixture of specially commissioned pieces and reconstructions of earlier work, including those by Shannon himself, Dane Mitchell, and Andrew Liversidge. – REJ
