Description:
Skateboarders have been running this town, nay, world, for quite some time now. You disagree? Do some research. I guarantee most people you like and admire are either dedicated riders of the board, or at least were in their formative years. Raph Brous is just such a character – he does a mean lipslide, and is also the singer of Mission Control, who sound kinda like a more tuneful Happy Mondays. Accompanying them here are a couple of skate-related projects: Sambrose Automobile featuring Ambrose Kenny Smith, a mean blues musician and renowned shredder from G-Long. Then there’s Hollow Everdaze, who Raph assures me are really good, and the Poon DJs, who are the dudes who skate out the front of the State Library every day, the uncrowned kings of Melbourne. Expect Roky Erickson, Pet Shop Boys and, um, maybe some songs from skate vids. – MO
