Motto Melbourne temporary shop

Geoff Newton at Neon Parc has been plotting with Joe from Berlin’s renowned publication distributor Motto and the upshot is they’re setting up a temporary bookshop in Brunswick. It’s going to be open noon to 7pm daily from 18 to 25 February.

Since Alexis Zavialoff founded the company in 2007 Motto has expanded its catalogue to include more than 100 small publishers, whose books and magazines are distributed to at least 100 shops worldwide. The Motto temporary bookshop has travelled to Vilnius, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Moscow, Vancouver, Stuttgart, Athens, Seoul, Tokyo and Paris.

Brunswick is a logical extension of this, and Joe will be selling books and magazines that are not widely stocked in Melbourne from publishers including Sweden’s Libraryman, New York’s N + 1, Switzerland’s Turbo, Maximage, Erik van der Weijde’s 4478 zine, Birmingham art people Eastside Projects, Leipzig’s Spector Books, ZAVOD P.A.R.A.S.I.T.E and Australia’s own Serps Zine.
