Obus is starting an in-store arts initiative displaying large-scale works exclusively by female artists and illustrators, curated by Simon Murray of Ink and Pixels. The first work is Kristen McIver‘s installation ‘Divine Intervention‘. It takes some pretty big stones to have the first piece in the series directly critiquing the commodification of human desire by commercial interests. Bodes well, huh? Cognitive dissonance be damned. The opening forms part of the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival cultural program. – KD
