You may remember our in-depth interview with Ben Butcher, proud recipient of the 2009 Itchiball Prize for his painting Why Do We Need A Porpoise In Life. But the man officially crowned Australia’s Worst Artist is not quitting while he’s at the bottom. He’s been working on a whole new series of canvasses, executed in a “style close to magical realism” which “fuses the whimsical with the topical” and the glitter with the glue. As Ben says, “The establishment thinks I am a shit artist. But I think the establishment doesn’t know shit from clay.”
