All The King’s Men, new shop
published on 22nd June, 2011

Oscar Wilde said it best when he opined, “I have the simplest tastes – I am always satisfied with the best.” It’s a sentiment with which I’m sure we can all agree, especially when it comes to a gentleman’s haircut. In this realm, North Melbourne’s All The King’s Men is undeniably a cut above the rest.

Led by master cutter and gentleman of distinction, Nick Downie, the shearers at The King offer the traditional barbershop experience: no appointments, no unnecessary fuss and bother, just excellent cuts and engaging conversation. The problem used to be fighting the throngs waiting for their turn under the clippers. Not any more.
Having outgrown their humble Errol Street digs, the barbers have made the shift to a new, well-appointed premises around the corner.

The expansive double-fronted shop on Queensberry Street has upgraded their capacity to serve the gentlemen of Melbourne. They’ve added more chairs (yes, those beautiful ‘50s ones) and cutters, extended the waiting area, adorned the walls with more spectacular vintage posters – and installed permanent decks for regular Saturday afternoon DJ spots. Sit back in comfort, pick up a magazine and let the soundtrack ease you into a well-coiffed life.
