The lady behind Curtin House’s newest retail destination Pet Shop Girls is none other than Chiara Ippoliti. This lady puts the ‘bubble’ in Bubble Cup and has a stronger affiliation with (and passion for) Tokyo style and culture than anyone I know. Chiara and her Dragon Ball Z boyfriends have been morphing level three into a marble palace. A steely gaze levelled at her Tamagotchis, meditating on fluorescent beige Louis Vuitton chihuahua bags… and from this Friday the doors are open!
Labels include: Tsumori Chisato (marine stripes!), Zucca (so casual!), Merci Beaucoup (animal ears!), Ne-Net (hyper casual!), Frapbois (that girl’s got a teacup on her head!) and footwear by Tokyo Bopper (flatforms! Flatforms are back!). And the fit out is thanks to the Ippoliti brothers; sandstone shelving with neon perspex, a row of rosy neon tubes on the roof and two giant power fists on pillars. People will be dancing around them at the launch. It’ll be the first shop launch in Melbourne with copious amounts of dry ice.
