Pugnacious George pop up shop
published on 28th September, 2011

Pugnacious George is not a breed of dog but he is a very stylish bastard. I know this because I read his bio (from which I quote): “A modern gentleman with discerning taste, good manners and great style… enjoys a bloody steak.” What a man. A tasteful man. (But not a vegetarian man.)

George started out in shirting, the slim-fit buttondown to be precise. He produces these from an atelier in Melbourne’s Nicholas Building and sells them on a very tastefully designed website, which also includes a great guide to other man things. George’s shirts were soon followed by ties, boxers and other stylish objects – all of which are designed and made in places such as Sweden and Italy using cotton from one of England’s last remaining mills.

The man might be classic but he’s no nuffie. For one month George is diversifying offline into a real-life store where his wardrobe will be available to see, touch and smell. Stocked items will include the aforementioned clothing as well as other man stuff such as journals, socks and headphones. Attendance is recommended for all local gentlemen, ruffians, dandies, frontiersmen, steak eaters and vegetarians. Gentlemanly style does not discriminate.
