Vanishing Elephant
published on 11th October, 2011

It takes a fair bit to get me looking past a well-hung pair of chinos. Unless it’s to have a squiz at the hanger that they’re hanging on. The first Melbourne Vanishing Elephant store is one nice space and it’s no accident that it comes courtesy of menswear newbodies Felix Chan, Huw Bennett and Arran Russel.

Suits are well tailored, socks are well spotted and shirts come in a variety of eye-meetingly bold prints. Not shy of flowers on a fella (or a lot of tattoos for that matter), the boys have created a line of classics that vary wildly in palette but not in production quality.

Further, the selection of new season cuts and colours look impressive against the clean, organic store fit out designed by local legends Foolscap Studio (who have used recycled 1950s rail-shed flooring and spotted gum to create a space of woodly goodliness).

The QV store is also a pro for those who follow the label as it will now be the quickest place to purchase VE threads in a non-confusing, straight-to-the-point, easy-on-the-eyes kind of way. Which I’m quite sure is how most guys like to shop. Saying that, I do usually date unemployed Sagittarian musicians so let’s be honest what would I know about that.
