Where Lovers Lie pop-up shop
published on 14th October, 2011

Where do lovers lie? Well mostly to each others faces but not Annalies Love-Linay’s lovers, who lie right in the cool stony heart of the GPO. Not that there’s anything cold or stony about the Where Lovers Lie temporary store. When I went to check it out Led Zep was drifting from the workroom and the spring sun was beaming through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the studio-meets-shop. Bathed in sunlight you could see how her new season collection is a good fit for the Melbourne summer. Blacks are the focus but light fabrics are the bonus. Plus everything is made in Melbourne.

And while it has been a while since I have seen a Marino Wool/ Polymide blend, I can’t deny that there is a shadow of Winona within me that burns to wear it. Having interned at Zambesi and about to take off to NY, Love-Linay is set to impale the fashion world on a needle’s end. And for good reason: lines are flattering, pieces are well tailored and texture heavy. Also, some almost dadaesque blues and yellows break up the black and white collection, giving a cheeky elbow to the usual cotton-ribbed ribs.
