Round about this time every year, our feet get itchy. Real itchy. It’s time for a holiday! That’s about the moment we realise that we can’t afford to go anywhere, and besides, there’s like ten art openings on next week.

Here’s a solution: a free getaway in one of the best cities in the world: Melbourne! Complete with a corner room at an inner city hotel, a double bed cloaked in the softest linen, a dedicated concierge and a bathroom sink lined with Aesop products. This describes a very small section of the Lost & Found Hotel Room, where you have the chance to stay for free.

Developed as a real world extension of Tourism Victoria’s Lost & Found publication, the Lost & Found Hotel Room is taking reservations from June 1. To stay there, all you need to do is apply online. If successful, all you’ll need to do is show up. Once there, your hardest task will be deciding whether to go and laugh at the people waiting for public transport, or cocoon on the couch in an Elpin throw rug, with slippers on your now not-so-itchy feet.
