It is easier to find a place to work out than a quality coffee in Subi. Louis Baxter is a new-ish cafe on top of the train station with tasty bites and hot brews for caffeine-starved, over-exercised locals like me.
The crew here are always cheery and especially proud of their fourteen hour, slow-dripped coffee concoction, perfect for the 6am swimming crowd (erm, not us). Swing by a little later on (say 9.30) and you will have to contend with local ladies and AIS athletes racing past to carb-load on breakfast trifle before heading out for a second weights sesh. If, like us, you prefer to sit and enjoy your cafes, we suggest popping down about eleven to exercise your stomach muscles around Pip Sullivan’s famous spinach quiche, or sixty minute slow poached eggs.
LB’s has given the rather busy people of Subiaco some much needed morning sustenance. If you are more interested in lattes than lat pull downs, this place should definitely be in your daily workout regime.
