There’s a kind of sexy allure that exists behind a ‘Mr’ or ‘Mrs’ alias – you only have to look to The Graduate‘s Mrs Robinson, Mr. Big of Sex & The City, or Branjelina circa 2005 in Mr. & Mrs. Smith to get my drift.
When I think ‘Mrs S’, what comes to mind is a curvy, aproned fifties housewife pin-up. New café Mrs. S is as enticing as her name suggests, first revealing herself from behind brown papered windows last week, in a newly renovated building opposite the Maylands train station.
While they’re only able to serve coffee and any product heatable in a sandwich press at the moment (council misunderstanding), the coffee (made with Crema beans) is just dandy, and a smidgen cheaper than nearby places.
Mrs. S also lives up to my mental image: she’s an avid baker (see the blog for recipes), and the counter is littered with sweet, tasty treats (with a full menu promised by Mrs S herself on the weekend of the 26/27 Nov.)
