Not quite tough enough to be post hardcore, while distinctly lacking in the whine and whingeing of melodic rock, the sound of post-rock Sydneysiders Sleepmakeswaves lies somewhere between the nuanced vocal-free instrumentalism of the The Dirty Three and the epic dynamics of 30 Seconds to Mars (if Jared Leto wasn’t such a wanker). If you’ve got the time and inclination for protracted line ups and some serious sonic foreplay, then these guys can certainly rub one out.
