No birthday party is complete without punch and cake. Maybe I’m just unco, but when balancing punch in one hand and a piece of cake on a napkin in the other the result tends to be icing trodden into the carpet and nasty crotch stains. This week it’s my birthday and there’s no time for the drycleaners, so I’ve come to the conclusion that cupcakes might just be the answer.
Sherbet is a retro bake shop in Maylands run by besties Beth and Sheree. They were fans of the cupcake scene in New York and have been baking at top speed since moving back. These cakes are fancy with Madagascan vanilla beans, Kennedy & Wilson chocolate and the best moist carrot cake with lemon frosting around!
Sheree serves all her cakes on colour-matched paisley plates but if you’re rushing (that punch isn’t gonna make itself!) they’ll give you a box. There are massive lines on weekends so phone/email ahead if you’re ordering by the dozen. That’s assuming you have loads of pals coming to the party.
