After a successful pilot program in 2011, the 2012 Perth Fringe World launches for realsies at the end of this month. There are over 100 Fringe Festivals across the world and we are thrilled our city is finally part of the gang! We’re already gunning to be up there as one of the best, with over 150 inspiring, defiant events (read about them online here).
Fringe World creators Artrage have cherished square peg creativity for what it is, rather than trying to squeeze it into mainstream art’s round hole. Even the venues have been specially engineered for Fringe dwellers: the old Treasury building and gardens have been transformed into performance spaces and an outdoor bar (The Treasure Chest), joining the Cultural Centre and Comedy Central as festival venues.
If the humung-o programme is making you dizzy, The Thousands Perth will be guiding you towards the best of Fringe World in upcoming issues, with plenty of chances to win tickets to Fringe events: consider us the insiders on the outsiders The Fringe opening festivities kick off this Thursday. Head to the Treasure Chest or Spiegeltent from 5pm for party times.
