In Jules Verne’s Around the World in 80 Days Londoner Phileas Fogg and his French valet Passepartout attempt to circumnavigate the world by rail and steamer in 80 days to satisfy a £20k wager.

Media140 have a similar quest, but as far as we know there is no external wager involved. These dudes create conferences that explore the future of the real-time web i.e. Twitter and her rellies. They’ve set themselves the formidable task of doing a city-by-city world tour in just 140 days! But why 140? Who knows – they were founded by a scuba diver named Andy who spells his name Ande. What a twitt!

Even so, Media140 Perth is upon us. Speakers include reps from Wotnews, Campaign Brief, the PPR to the guy who tweets as isnack2.0 and the Fake Stephen Conroy. And whether they win their own bet (Phileas Fogg-style!) or not, I still get to say this: proceeds aid Telethon.
