Burt (Jon Krasinski) and Verona (Maya Rudolph) are smart, self-absorbed and total retards at grown-up stuff. When Verona gets knocked up and Burt’s parents (Catherine O’Hara and Jeff Daniels) selfishly decide to move to Europe, our gestating pair embark on a road trip to find a new home town, hoping their friends will teach them how to raise kids. What they discover is that parenthood kind of makes you go crazy.
Diabetics probably shouldn’t see this film. It’s firmly in the Sundance tradition of mannered, whimsical comedies that assure ordinary people that life is magical and they are special little flowers. But it does promise to reveal the funny side of a haplessness that might be guiltily familiar.
