10 William St

Exceptionally quietly, the team behind Fratelli Paradiso have opened a new place. This isn't the same deal as their lauded Challis Ave joint though - their latest venture brings their focus to wine. 10 William St is both the name and location of said venture, right in the thick of the boutique shopping district in Paddington.
Renting a shopfront in this area doesn't get you much space, and number ten is no exception, however it manages feel comfortable rather than cramped. Spread over two floors, the floor-to-ceiling chalkboards list all available wines, designed to appease the seasoned wine appreciator as well as the casual drinker. There's also a small food menu: cashing in on the latest trend of share plates, one can order substantial dishes such as gnocchi or corned beef and chips, as well as smaller snacks like olives with buffalo mozzarella and suppli (a kind of arancini).
10 William St has a simplicity and a comfortable lack of the pretense that its big sister is sometimes accused of having. This isn't a place to be seen, more a place to catch up with pals.
