It’s a truth universally acknowledged that places with photos of the food out front should be treated with caution. But hoist a loaded rack of Adriano Zumbo pastries in the window and you’re inviting flirtation and window shopping.

So why stay a while at 485, with so many other distractions in this saturated strip? It’s because their Moroccan baked eggs add spice to missionary-style breakfasts; their French toast is dished up with a comforting menage et trois of banana, rhubarb and mascarpone; their vegan menu options and lunch forage in well-chartered territory (burgers, sandwiches and salads) but deliver on the promise. And we all know Single Origin coffee always hits the bean on the head.**These new kids have gathered a few of our favourite things and know how to flirt. And with that, they’ve established this nook like it’s been there forever.
