Happy Chef Seafood Noodle House Vs Hong Kong King’s Chef
published on 4th February, 2009

We couldn’t agree on the best laksa house to review so we had a laksa-off. These are the results:

Alice: I believe that my laksa was far superior, but must concede that Angela’s Eating World has a much more authentic ambience. The TVs are backwards, like a mirror reflection! Weird and wonderful, but sorry that doesn’t make up for the baby corn, packet carrots and budget tofu in my bowl. Gross. My vote: Happy Chef Seafood Noodle House

**Angela: Happy Chef? Sounds like an oxymoron to me. While the noodles were as soft as babies’ bums massaged wagyu-style, the soup creamy (if you like that kinda thing), and the vegetables passable (although a decidedly homogenous ‘green’), any place that has to put ‘recommended by Sydney Weekender’ in its credentials is, at best, desperate, at worst, a whore. My vote: The original, the real, Hong Kong King’s Chef.
