Jaipur Sweets
published on 4th July, 2006

Don’t be fooled by the name…there’s more to Jaipur Sweets than the tooth-achingly saccharine offerings in hazchem colours that have made India famous. They also do savory at this canteen-style restaurant, and all the favorites are here.

The samosas are hearty and firm, the dosa light and crisp and there is a vast variety of thali from just $12. For the uninitiated, thali is an eclectic assemblage of vegetarian curries and preserves and this one comes served with rice or roti in a stainless steel bowl set that’s as futuristic as the latest Prada show. For those not restricted to "birdy num num" options, there’s also a plethora of meaty delights, unlike their surly counterparts at Maya Da Dhaba.

With wall projected Bollywood films on high rotation, a vacant stage just begging for copy cat dancing with wild abandon, and the friendliest staff around, if you already have a favorite Indian…defect!**
