Luneburger German Bakery
published on 10th February, 2009

Lonely hearts, this one goes out to you for V. Day. We’d heard a lot about this particular German Bakery before venturing there ourselves. One friend was adamant that “no city lunch is complete” without a pumpkin seed roll. Another was more honest: “The girls who work there are all babes from Germany, and the bread’s good too.” Right.**So we went to Luneburger. Not only was it staffed by a legion of cute Heides dropping sweet lines like “you’re so lucky, it’s still hot!” (she was talking about a bread roll) but the bread is fantastisch. The back oven churns out all sorts of doughy bits: giant German pretzels, chocolate croissants, seeded bread rolls and sandwiches. These are whipped into paper bags with a sumptuous smile, and for the lucky ones, a wink.
