Sydney’s Biggest Schnitties
published on 22nd March, 2009

The specialty at the ostensibly Spanish bistro of this old pub is chicken schnitzel, done in a myriad of ways: parma, Mexican, Mediterranean, cheesey, Hawaiian, and so forth. These all have one common aspect: they don’t fit on the plate. Literally. Not even close.

Sometimes, you need a gimmick, a theme – in literary terms, a conceit. This is the way you translate that metaphysical essence of something which is too subtle or delicate for mere adjectives. At other times though, frank description is best.**When attempting to convey the size of the meals at the White Cockatoo, blunt words will do: huge, ridiculous, laughable. You’re basically eating dinosaur schnitties. Some things are just too awe-inspiring to be clever about.
