It’s a familiar scenario. You finally make it home after a long day at work, and your fridge reveals nothing but a mouldy grapefruit and five chilled cockroaches. Enter the local pub, a shining beacon on a dark night, home to the hearty parma, the rich steak and the exotic nacho.
Sydney might be the 19th most expensive city in the world, but thankfully the $10 pub meal still exists. From the ‘world famous laksa’ at the Old Fitzroy, to The Shakespeare’s ’20 meals under $10′, cheap can be sweet if you know where to go.**So, in a bid to differentiate a plate of $10 salmonella with a serve of deep-fried heaven, TwoThousand wants your tips on the best of Sydney’s bargain pub fare:
Rules of challenge:
1. Meal must be under $10
2. Establishment must be a pub, not a restaurant or bar
3. A packet of crisps doesn’t count as a meal
4. Extra points for pub ambience
Send your favourite to pub@twothousand.com.au before Monday May 28 and next week our super computer will deliver the results, and maybe even a pie chart.
