Cat Rabbit makes the cutest toys this side of Hello Kitty sweatshop operated by actual kittens. *Meow*. Although she’s best known for her owls, she also makes zombies, monsters and videogame-based plush figures. All of them are hand stitched, sewn and assembled in her Hobart studio.
Miss Cat Rabbit has held several exhibitions around the country and her stuff moves like heroin at an outer suburban train station, i.e. it sells out quick. That might be great for her, but it’s not real awesome when the plush you desperately wanted is snapped up by some jerk. Bah!**On that note, we have some good news: Cat Rabbit takes custom jobs. For realz. If there’s something you want recreated in plush toy format (Voltron, the family pet, Charles Manson) she has the skills to sew it into existence. Timeframe and cost depends on the job but the basics start at about $120 and one month. Visit her website to place an order and become a ‘patron of the arts’. Not just one of those bums who shows up for the free drinks…
