Graduation by Rittenhouse
published on 30th July, 2008

The latest collection of menswear by Rittenhouse is simple, neatly cut and comfortable enough for any dude who just wants to sit on a couch and eat chips. But when it came to dreaming up shapes and colours, designers Sally and Micah breathed a certain Rittenhouse idiosyncrasy into their creations.

Graduation is characterised by contrasting cuts and colours that gradually meld into one another: shirts of small checks growing into larger, chunky slices; dark, long-sleeved tops with elbow patches a few shades lighter. The sharp, individual pieces of the collection represent an intriguing design concept of growth.

**Rittenhouse has also been flirting with design houses overseas. They’ve been flashing their wears in New York, coinciding with Fashion Week at Bryant Park and teasing Italian distributors. Their biggest feat of late has been landing a deal with Odin, famous for their fashion design residencies. It’s nice to have that little rush of pride for Australian designers creating elbow patches for the world stage.
